The wonders of microscopic life
The mystery and beauty of microscopic life
Most of our scientific wonder is directed towards the stars. The unfathomable size and mystery of space are captivating, but the microscopic world is just as magnificent. We are made of 30,000,000,000,000 cells and each of these is like a tiny universe that we can barely comprehend. Some cells course through our blood, others absorb and filter nutrients. Some transmit electrical currents, others seek and destroy foreign invaders.
Each of us, and all living things, are an enormous ecosystem of minuscule cells, each behaving in their own way and somehow, this creates a conscious being. There is so much to learn about our incredible bodies and spectacular discoveries are being made every day. Just like telescopes allow us to peer into space, microscopes allow us to enter the hidden world inside us and see for ourselves the wonders of microscopic life.
